High Rise – Floor Below Nozzle
Delta’s Floor Below Nozzle has been designed to mitigate against one of the greatest dangers facing fire crews when dealing with High Rise fires when it comes to entering a room to deal with a fire inside. Behind a closed door the fire produces hot gasses from burning debris that rise to the ceiling. When the fire crew force entry into the room, air is allowed to enter and can cause the sudden violent ignition of the gasses causing a significant increase in danger to the operative.
The most recent addition to Delta’s High Rise Fire Nozzle range is the Floor Below Nozzle. This nozzle allows the firefighter to cool the hot gasses in an upper floor room from the floor below without the need for firefighter entry.
The Floor Below Nozzle is specially designed to be long enough to protrude out of a lower window where the long, angled barrel is raked upwards and fires a powerful, solid jet of water through an upper window, hitting the ceiling and providing fast, efficient gas cooling prior to fire crew entry. In recent trials at a UK Fire and Rescue Service a room was taken to 600 degrees in a controlled fire situation. Within just 20 seconds the room temperature was reduced to 90 degrees without the need for personnel entry. This is a major step forward in High Rise firefighter safety and significantly reduces the risks associated with rising room temperatures.
This specialist Floor Below Nozzle is extremely robust and durable made from high grade aluminium and is jointed to allow for easy lift access and operative manoeuvrability.
