Specialist High Rise Fire Nozzles
High Rise Fire presents a unique set of challenges to Fire & Rescue Services requiring equipment and performance quite different to more conventional ground-level fire fighting. A High Rise building is protected by a ‘Rising Main’ or ‘Dry Riser’ that feeds water to every floor of the building via landing valves which the fire crews attach their hose lines to.
One of the principal difficulties with High Rise fire fighting is the loss of water pressure on upper floors often causing reduced nozzle performance thereby limiting the firefighters ability to efficiently suppress the fire and increasing the personal threat level to the operative.
Delta Fire currently supply more than 60% of UK Fire and Rescue Services with fire nozzles and have always worked closely with professional firefighters in the drive to produce cutting edge nozzles that meet and exceed the criteria required for every application.
This relationship has led to the development of a series of dedicated High Rise fire nozzles designed specifically to combat irregular and reduced flows from the rising main and the maintenance of efficient, safe firefighting performance even on the highest levels.
All three of Delta’s pistol grip High Rise fire nozzles are adapted to combat the flow issues detailed but flow is not the only complication in this field of fire fighting. The rising main of a High Rise building can remain ‘dry’ for extended periods of time and debris can accumulate in the main. When water is introduced in the event of a fire this debris can potentially travel up the main, through the firefighter’s hose line and into the back end of the nozzle causing reduced flow or even total blockage.
Working alongside Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue the creation of the ‘Combination Attack Smooth Bore HR’ was born. This nozzle combines all the attributes of Delta’s Attack 500 nozzle and combines it with the twin-tip ‘Smooth Bore’ nozzle. This unique nozzle boast two interchangeable front ends; should the Attack front become blocked the fire crew can quickly and easily change to the solid jet Smooth Bore front that will dislodge any debris allowing the operative to continue fighting the fire. The additional benefit of the solid jet is in it’s ability to be effectively used for gas cooling which if frequently an issue in High Rise buildings.
All Delta Fire Nozzles are manufactured under an ISO 9001 Quality Management System, fully tested in our professional test cell and guaranteed for 10 years. Every Delta High Rise Fire Nozzle has a unique serial number for ease of traceability.
