Class A foams are also commonly referred to as "wetting agents" or "wild fire foams" and are intended for use against Class A fires such as wood, paper, textiles or rubber.

Class A foams are a blend of surfactants that enable strong wetting and foaming properties and are often used at very low concentrations of 0,1 to 1%,  Class A foams are formulated using environmentally favourable ingredients and in most cases are free from fluorine surfactants.
